Lacey has been awarded a UBC Faculty of Science Killam Prize for Excellence in Teaching for 2008-2009.
In 1990 UBC instituted a tradition of University Teaching Prizes adjudicated within each Faculty and recognized university-wide. In 1996 the name was changed to the UBC Killam Teaching Prizes. The prizes are awarded annually, from the Killam Endowment Fund, to faculty nominated by students, colleagues, and alumni in recognition of excellence in teaching.
